Is the Ethnic Hair Care Marketplace Also a Vehicle of Women’s Empowerment?

Within the past 15 year, the haircare market has drastically changed.  Women have been crying out for curly hair products that cater to their true haircare needs.

This is seen especially in the ethnic haircare market.  All over the world, a great movement has developed.  This movement involves women, leaving their chemical treatments and opting for a more natural lifestyle.  The product developers of old, didn't quite hear the "cry for help" and did not act fast enough, leaving common women the opportunity to meet one anther's need. So grassroots hair care product companies have sprung up and developed life enhancing products for women.

As the movement has taken shape, you see a camaraderie develop among get the women.  In public settings, when "natural's" see each other, they somehow have so much to discuss, without even knowing one another.  This interaction has spread onto social media.  Online networks now allow these women to meet, chat, and virtually spend time exchanging hair stories.  These discussions then lead to talks about their lifestyle, family life, and personal goals.  Slowly, but surely this natural hair movement has naturally empowered women to be who they were called to be.  It has literally broken barriers of age, race, location, competition and culture. Today, the natural hair movement also touts the message of empowerment.

Now, we see an onset of deliberate encouragement from the leaders of the movement.  Mahisha Dellinger, CEO and Founder of CURLS has launched her new book "Against All Odds-from the Projects to the Penthouse."  This tell-all book sheds light on her unique journey, growing up in a tough area of California, also known as "danger city."  Her life in poverty is so relatable to many woman, therefore her story of triumph is that much more powerful!

So the next time you look at the hair care movement.  Know that it is so much more than simple hair care.  It is self-development, sisterhood, and women's empowerment, for a better quality of life for all people.

Even the Knottiest Curls Can be Detangled with the Right Curly Hair Products

What would you use if your hair was matted, and stuck together?  It might be hard to even think of what to do when you find yourself in a mess like that.  So, here are some hints.

To begin, get a great Curly HairProduct for moisturizing.  Then start by finger detangling to test the waters.  This process involves your fingers gently walking throughout your hair to pull apart loose tangles.  Be careful to assess the state of your hair to feel if it is feeling fragile or dry.  In which case you will need to be extremely careful with each touch.  If you are transitioning from a chemical relaxer, you must take all proper precautions to protect your healthy growth patterns.

Now you are ready to detangle.  Section your hair off into 5 workable sections and secure.  Starting at the back of your head, spray CURLS Quenched Curls Moisturizer on your hair from root to tip.  Spread evenly with your fingertips.  Then begin combing your hair with a wide tooth comb or paddle brush from the ends upwards.  Continue up the head shape, taking your time on each section.  After detangling, secure each section with a braid, twist, or clip to prevent re-tangling to occur.

The Quenched Curls Moisturizer is ideal for detangling for its protecting properties.  This formula strategically fills the gaps and holes in your hair.  These areas must be filled to add structure and strength to the hair shaft, allowing Detangling to happen without the risk of breakage. You can use the moisturizer on wet or dry hair.  However severely tangled hair should detangle before washing as the cleansing process will only make matters worse.

Major Ingredients:

- Certified Organic Carmella Oil

- Coconut Oil

- Wheat Germ Oil

These oils make a great potion for 2nd day hair, as they nourish and moisturize the strands while also coating and protecting the hair. All hair types can use this product up to twice per day for optimal conditioning.

Enjoy!

Step-by-Step Nighttime Hair Prep For “Morning Glory Curls” by Curl Type

So you just completed your prefect “Wash and go” and you have such a busy week you hope it lasts 4 days.  How do can you maintain that beautiful mane without packing on a ton of curly hair products every day?  The way to do it is by prepping your hair for bed, based on your desired outcome and then retouching important parts with a refresher product.   Here is how:

FOR VOLUME

After a great hairstyleday, it is best to end your hair with your hair in a high “pineapple” or a ponytail at the top of your head.  You do this with a loose silk scarf and then you can sleep on the back or side of your head without disrupting your curls.  The pineapple works because it very gently stretches the back parts of the hair but it keeps the volume at the crown of your head.  The pineapple can be work until you are prepared for your next washday.

FOR SILKENING

Some hair types do not need any added volume, but could use some help in the smooth and silkening department.  The best night time hair care for silkening involves using a gentle, light oil like CURLS Champagne & Caviar Curl Elixir throughout the hair and then forming a ponytail that turns into a bun at the lowest part of her head shape.  The stretching of the hair throughout the night is enough to stretch the curls out a bit for a different look!

AM STYLING

Whether adding volume or taking it away, some of your curls may need a touch up.  You can use the Quenched curls 2nd Day moisturizer to reactivate your curls and apply your choice of styler as needed.

So the choice is yours.  Do you want to go for added volume and body or would you want to stretch and lengthen your tresses.  Either way, you have a complete step-by-step guide for setting up your best curls!
