You should leave it to the curl experts.  It can be difficult to know what you really need to bring, so worry not.  We are here to help!  Here are a few tips to get you through your summer excursions:

Tip #1: Bring only the products that have worked wonders for you in the past.
Now is the time to bring out ALL of the show stopping naturally curly hair care products.  Keep the mediocre products at home this go-around.

Tip #2: Bring multiple-use products to save room in your luggage
Really great products can sometimes allow you to get multiple things done like an edge tamer that also controls your curls or a conditioner that also serves as a leave in.

Tip #3: Bring a headband, bobby pins and hair elastics for hair gone wild days!
Sometimes no product in the world can accomplish what you need to get done.  Bring along a back up plan to get you through.

…And finally stock your travel arsenal with these items.

Bring CURLS Creamy Curl Cleanser to keep your curls moisturized throughout your stay.  There is nothing worse than parched curls on or off the beach.

Tag along your Coconut Curlada Conditioner, everyone's favorite staple that can also be used as a cowash.

Finally, take your Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea Deep Conditioner along to use before a long day at the beach and after.  This thick, creamy potion will do the trick. Rich in Chinese Ho Shu Wu Extract and Japanese Green Tea Extract to quench your hair's thirst, and protect your hair throughout your vacation.

Naturally Curly Black Hair Needs Exceptional Care For Growth and Maintenance

What’s the number one concern for afro-textured hair?  Manageability!  Women would love to finally find a products or technique to help them gain control of their curls and kinks.

Don’t worry!  Help is available! With the right information about products, hair care and styling techniques, you can finally have a strong handle on caring for your, and your family’s afro-textured hair.   The trick is to be aware of the best products and the best techniques, but more importantly, to be consistent with the products and techniques.  Here is a quick guide for caring for textured hair.

Overall Care

This hair type appears to be strong and resilient due to its dense appearance, but the truth is in exact opposition.  Curly and kinky hair is actually fragile and requires different methods of care.  For example, refrain from combing/detangling your hair until after finger styling on wet, conditioned hair.  This ensures that your hair has protection from the product and if your hair is extra curly or coily, it will be in its stretched hair.  You can also detangle your hair when dry by prepping it with organic coconut oil for protection.  Remember to handle your hair with understanding and patience.  Take your time with your hair to prevent excess and unnecessary breakage.

Cleansing and Conditioning

Use gentle products like CURLS hair care in place of your regular shampoo and conditioner.  Notice how your hair feels after applying the product.  This hair type should cleanse the hair as needed rather than on a methodical schedule.  Hair ONLY needs to be purified during specific times when oil has built up on the scalp, or dirt and debris are present.  Other important cleansing times are after swimming in salt water or chlorine.  After cleansing, ALWAYS follow with a conditioner and add a deep conditioner once a month to your regimen.

Styling

Afro-textured hair is naturally dry and responds best to rich organic, plant-based products infused with elements from nature to enhance the condition the hair rather than taking away from the condition of your hair.  Styling Products for Curly Hair should include Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Certified Organic coconut oil and other natural additives.  Steer clear from harsh gels, silicones and sulfates for best results.

With these tips, tricks and product choices, you can absolutely manage your highly textured hair and those of your family!  Visit www.curls.biz for more information.

Organic Hair Care Products Are Best For Optimal Care For Naturally Curly Hair

Ever wonder why your hair tends to love a new product and then suddenly, within a few weeks, it stops responding to the efforts of that particular product?

Or better yet, have you ever received a fresh trim of the ends to repair your damaged hair and within no time your hair feels damaged again?  As devastating as that can be, it’s worth exploring the effects of this and considering a better option. The hair products used on our hair have a tremendous impact on the health and wellness of our hair and scalp.  Curly hair is more fragile than naturally straight hair and therefore needs more care.  Using Organic based products is a healthier, safer system for obtaining and maintaining natural curly hair.
When purchasing a product to add to your regimen, take a close look on the back of the bottle to discover the ingredients list.  Although many elements may seem like a foreign language, there should be a few things that jump out to you such as natural extracts and organic elements from nature.  CURLS Hair Care and Styling products for curly hair do just that.  You will find grapefruit and pineapple extract infused into the clarifying cleanser and horse chestnut and sage leaf extract in the cleansing cream formula.  Throughout the collection you will often see Certified Organic Shea and Mango Butter, Aloe Leaf, and Cocos Nucifera Coconut Oil.

Products made the organic way are gentler on the hair, as they do not contain harsh chemicals that are so common in commercial products.  You can expect your hair to remain in its natural healthy state without disrupting the strength and moisture balance of your hair.  In fact, it will enhance the condition of your hair from the inside out.  Take a look at your hair care regimen and compare with the state of your hair.  If your hair is often dry, tangled, or experiencing unusual shedding or breakage, a change is in order.  Go the organic way!

When making the shift from mainstream products always start with a clarifying cleanser to purify the strands of product build up or heavy, unnecessary minerals.  Your hair is now ready to be moisturized with a clean palette.  Follow with a deep conditioner like CURLS Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea Deep Conditioner under a hooded dryer for 15-30 minutes.  Then style with a styler formulated for your hair type.  For more information visit www.curls.biz.

Do Not Envy Her Hair When You Too Can Have Your Own Enviable Curls with Curls Gel-les’c

The summer is ready for you!  Is your hair ready for the summer?   Curls Gel-les’c can get your curls summer ready in a flash!  Here are a few tips to get free, flowing, summer fun hair this season!

How to Prepare for Summer Hair

Gather those curls and get busy whipping them into shape for the summer.  First things first, gently detangle your curl with natural, unrefined, extra virgin coconut oil before cleansing your hair.  Also known as a “pre-poo” this step will fortify your strands and add protein and moisturizing lipids to the outer and inner hair strand.  Leave the oil on your hair for at least 20 minutes before giving yourself a clarifying shampoo treatment.  Using CURLS Pure Curls Clarifying Shampoo, begin the cleansing process by focusing on your scalp and the first few inches of your hair.  In slow, circular motions develop a bit of a later to activate the cleanser.  It’s natural ingredients like Grapefruit Peel and Orange extract seamlessly attract to excess oil and unnecessary dirt and debris to rinse it off and reveal your beautiful

curly hair!

Product Overview:  A clarifying shampoo is to be used at specific times to deeply cleanse and detoxify your hair and scalp.  Great to use when prepping for a great event, or after a very stressful time in which you have produced an excessive amount of oil or sweat.  The most common usage however is after swimming in chlorine or to remove heavy build up from the hair strands.

What it does?

Curly hair benefits from this process by freeing heavy curls and providing movement and shine especially under the summer sun.  You will have a great response from the product, as it is gentle and non-stripping.

What’s in it?

Purified Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Lauramide DEA, Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Peg-10 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino, Lactic Acid, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Extract, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Sodium Chloride, Caramel

What now?

After freeing your curls, hydrate immediately with Quenched Curls Moisturizer and distribute evenly.   Finally, style with a lightweight botanical styler like CURLS CURL Gel-les-c by squeezing into your palms and shingling throughout your tendrils.  Want extra volume?  Dry your hair with a diffuser attachment and shake, shake, shake. shake.  Voila, enviable curls are yours!

3 Tips for Caring for Fine, Delicate Strands Using Consistent and Effective Methods

Your hair is unique and personal to you and no one in the world has the same exact hair that you have.   While that makes you special and unique, it can get quite lonely and it’s easy to feel as though no one understands your struggles. So it’s much easier to look at the similarities between us and share whatever tips we can to help one another out.

How to tell if your hair is fine?
Take a regular piece of thread and compare to a strand of your hair.  If your hair is “skinnier” in diameter to the piece of thread, you have fine hair.  This has nothing to do with the density or bulk of your hair, but simply indicates the size of each strand.

Fine hair is more delicate than any other types.  Its lightweight can however cause the bulk of your hair to often tangle and form single strand knots. Another challenge with this kind of hair is that many products can weigh the hair down, making it look greasy, oils and lack volume.  Here are some tips to combat your fine strand woes.

1. Use a curl safe shampoo

Your hair is special, don’t just put anything on it.  Use only the Best shampoo for curly hair.Heavy sulfate shampoos leave fine hair stripped of its natural oils and weakens the hair shaft over a short amount of time.  Instead, use CURLS Curlicious Curl Cleanser.

2. Go Easy on the Deep Conditioning

When deciding to deep treat your hair, first assess its needs.  If your hair feels strong and moisturized, do not apply a heavy moisturizing conditioner.  Fine hair typically is on the pourous side and absorbs the conditioning contents very easily.  Over conditioning could leave your hair gummy and lifeless and could quickly cause a build up.

3. Use Helpful Curl Stylers for Definition and Volume

Nothing is worse than dull, clumpy curls with fine hair.  Use a light styler like CURLS Milkshake, specifically formulated for Fine hair.

Fine hair is still gorgeous hair!  To make the most of it, use only the best shampoo for curly hair, deep condition your hair with accuracy and choose light, curl enhancing stylers in your regimen!
