Essential Tips for Caring for your Naturally Curly Hair while Wearing a Wig

Beneath your wig lies your precious strands, hidden and tucked away.  There is nothing wrong with wearing a wig.  It can be very convenient, very trendy and can actually help to grow your hair when proper precautions are followed.  Here are some ways that  you can enjoy the flexibility of wearing a wig while preserving your naturally curly hair.

Wear a Wig Cap

Cover your hair with a wig cap every time you wear a wig.  When wigs are worn they can often cause heavy friction between the hair and the wig.  Protect your hair by covering with a smooth wig covering to provide a barrier between you and the wig.  This concept is very similar to nighttime hair care.  It is highly recommended to sleep with a satin bonnet or pillowcase to lessen friction between you and the pillow.  The same principle applies here.

Braid your Natural Hair

Beneath the cap, lies your hair.  Even if you are not a great stylist, braid your hair in cornrows or plaits to join your hair in a collective fashion.  This ensures that the hair is in a safe, secure place, it allows the scalp to breathe and it provides a smooth palette for smooth wig application. After braiding your hair, apply your cap and then your wig.

Spray with a Daily Moisturizing Spray

Herein lies a very important part of this process.  Even though yo  Bear in mind that after the hair sprouts from the scalp, the only way to provide nourishment is through topical products.  Spray your hair with a leave in moisturizing spray like Lavish Curls Moisturizer.  You may spray your hair before or after you braid your hair.  A great time to provide this moisturizer is at night or in the morning.  If you suffer from scalp challenges, this would be the appropriate time to apply your scalp conditioner or apply some Lavish Curls directly onto your scalp for a dose of hair food.
u are wearing a wig and your hair is not seeing the light of day, you must remember to treat it.
